A selection of slides from our series in Romans

This is a very rough visualisation of Romans. Its purpose is to demonstrate that Paul's purpose in writing is world mission. Each layer deeper ((L2) how Rome fits into that, (L3) how Jews and gentiles fit together, (L4) whether God is justified in his actions, and (L5) the nature of the new humanity in Christ) serves that purpose. They're designed to turn Rome into a church united in Christ, ready to send missionaries with his gospel.

A cumulative description of each talk in the series so far and how it contributes to the greater message of Romans.

Paul's purpose in writing Romans is world mission (L1). Each layer deeper is so Rome might become a church united in Christ, ready to send missionaries with his gospel. (L2) is about how Rome fits into the worldwide gospel. (L3) is about how Jews and gentiles fit together in that. (L4) is about whether God is justified in these actions. And (L5) is about the nature of the new humanity in Christ.

Another summary of the flow of Romans.

Theonomy - The idea that MOST of the Mosaic law should rule ALL human beings.

Covenant Theology - The idea that ONE type of material from the Mosaic covenant (the so-called 'moral law') should rule the CHURCH (that is, all Christians).

Dispensationalism - The idea that the Mosaic covenant has nothing to do with Christians in the current age such that none of the Mosaic covenant has implications for anyone.
