Monday Morning Meditation
Arise, shine, for your light has come.
And the glory of the Lord is risen upon us. (Isaiah 60.1)
1 I will sing a new hymn to my God:
O Lord you are great and marvellous
you are marvelous in your strength invincible.
2 Let the whole creation serve you:
for you spoke and all things came to be;
3 You sent out your Spirit and it formed them:
no one can resist your voice.
4 Mountains and seas are stirred to their depths:
rocks melt like wax at your presence;
5 But to those, who revere you:
you still show mercy.
Glo ry to God: Father Son and Holy Spirit;
As in the beginning so now: and forever.
Amen.

Prayers
Option 1: heart
Lord our God, we pray you to drive away the darkness of our hearts;
that we and all men may know you, the one eternal light and the one true God, blessed for evermore.
Amen.
Option 2: sacred life
Lord, our refuge and hope:
help us to consecrate ourselves untiringly to your service with a deep love for you and for our brothers,
until the day comes when we shall see the vision of your face in the kingdom of Jesus Christ your Son our Lord.
Amen.
Option 3: strength
Eternal God and Father, by whose power we are created and by whose love we are redeemed:
guide and strengthen us by your Spirit, that we may give ourselves to your service,
and live this day in love to one another and to you;
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Optional prayer of praise for longer mornings
We praise you O God: we acknowledge you to be the Lord.
All creation worships you: the Father everlasting.
To you all angels cry aloud: with all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim: ever sing in endless praise,
Holy holy holy Lord God of power and might: heaven and earth are full of your glory.
The glorious company of apostles praise you: the goodly fellowship of prophets praise you.
The noble army of martyrs praise you: through all the world your holy Church acclaims you,
Father of majesty unbounded: your true and only Son and the Holy Spirit advocate and guide.
You Lord Christ are the King of glory: the eternal Son of the Father.
When you became man to set us free: you did not disdain the virgin’s womb.
When you overcame the sting of death: you opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.
You are seated at God’s right hand in glory: we believe that you will come to be our judge.
Come then Lord and help your people: bought with the price of your own blood;
and bring us with your saints: to glory ever lasting.
Amen.
Benediction
May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit we may abound in hope.
Amen.
(Romans 15.13)
